John's selected Projects

SFS Media

John founded (within the San Francisco Symphony) and lead SFS Media until 2015. The San Francisco Symphony has a long and distinguished history of using new technology to reach audiences and bring classical music to millions around the world. In 2001, the Symphony became the first American orchestra to create its own audio/video label, SFS Media, which produces the Symphony’s CDs and DVDs, as well as radio and TV documentaries.

Keeping score

John co-created the Keeping Score project with renowned conductor, Michael Tilson Thomas and was executive producer.

NWS Media

NWS Media is the media producing, publishing and broadcasting arm of the New World Symphony.  John, working with NWS staff, created and set the strategy for this new department within NWS in the middle months of 2020.

Soundbox

SOUNDBOX is an experimental venue created in a repurposed Opera rehearsal stage that put audience experience center stage. Under John’s supervision, the space was renovated to allow for public gatherings and a virtual acoustic (Meyer Constellation) installed along with large video screens.

The National Alliance for Audition Support

John was responsible for the development of the program that is is an unprecedented national initiative to increase diversity in American orchestras.
